🐉 Origin and Spirit

The Ryū Honō takes its name from the mythical Japanese dragon ( Ryū ) and the flame ( Honō ), symbols of vitality, transformation, and power. The tsuba, engraved with a protective dragon, connects this blade to the ancient iconography of imperial swords. In tradition, the dragon watches over its wielder, guardian of the sacred fire and inner righteousness.

🔥 Forging & Fabrication

Forged from 1045 Damascus steel folded into 880 layers , this katana reveals natural red-brown and black veining , achieved through controlled thermal oxidation. The final polishing highlights a true hamon , a wavy pattern reminiscent of a flame dancing on metal. Each blade is assembled and polished by hand , ensuring a smooth finish and perfect balance.

Frame & Details

The koshirae of Ryū Honō combines elegance and symbolism:

• Saya made of hardwood, lacquered deep black with flamboyant red patterns , reminiscent of dragon claws.

• Tsuka (handle) sheathed in red stingray leather ( samegawa ), wrapped in a black braid (ito) of tightly hand-tied synthetic silk.

• Tsuba made of zinc and brass alloy, finely engraved with a Japanese dragon in relief.

• Gold habaki and matching fuchi/kashira , adding a touch of prestige to the outfit.
