Renge no Reicha means "lotus and crushed tea" in Japanese: a name that celebrates the patience of the gesture. The steel bends like the leaves being crushed before brewing, in a ritual where every movement counts. This wakizashi combines dark aesthetics, sure balance, and meticulous finishing—for demanding martial arts practice and passionate collecting, or as a centerpiece in a minimalist interior where beauty meets function.

📜 Description

Origin and spirit

The wakizashi, the short sword of samurai households, was never a mere auxiliary weapon. A faithful companion to the katana in the traditional daishō, it embodied everyday honor, precision in confined spaces, and inner control when the movement had to be perfect from the first strike.

"Renge no Reicha"evokes the lotus(蓮華 - renge) — this flower that blooms in the mud to offer immaculate purity, a symbol of resilience and spiritual mastery — and pounded tea(礼茶 - reicha) — this ancestral ritual where each leaf is crushed with devotion, where patience transforms the plant into concentrated essence.

A blade designed for those who seek practical beauty: understated in its elegance, precise in its edge, ready to serve without ostentation. Each element tells a story of discipline, slow transformation, and excellence forged blow after blow.

Forging and manufacturing

The soul of this wakizashi lies in its folded Damascus steel—an age-old process where layers multiply, fuse together, and reveal their swirls like clouds of ink in clear water. Beneath the carefully applied dark patina, these natural undulations capture the light, creating a shifting landscape on the blade's surface.

The profile without arelief groove provides superior inertia: each cut is solid, heavy, and definitive. There's no whistling in the air, just the dull murmur of steel slicing through space. This concentrated mass facilitates deep cuts during traditional tameshigiri—using braided rice straw, green bamboo, and tatami mats.

The razoris sharpened using traditional methods: a water stone with a gradual grinding process, and a mirror finish on the edge. Upon receipt, the blade is ready for use, perfect for your first training sessions or cutting tests.
