Born from bamboo and breath, Take no Kaze means “The Wind of Bamboo”: a supple, silent, unbreakable force. This handcrafted Japanese katana embraces a raw and natural aesthetic, enhanced by a simple hilt and a balance designed for practice. Available sharpened or unsharpened depending on the intended use (dojo, traditional cut, collector).
📜 Description
Origin and spirit
Take no Kaze is not a "fantasy" name. It's a very real Japanese image: the wind flowing through a bamboo forest, fluid and precise, without unnecessary violence. The bamboo bends but does not break—exactly the spirit of this katana: sobriety, control, continuity of movement. A piece that speaks to those who seek mastery rather than excess.
Forging & manufacturing
The blade is made of 1060 carbon steel , a steel prized for its strength and reliability in use. It incorporates a bohi (fuller) , ideal for lightening the blade and improving feel during movement. There is no hamon here: the finish remains intentionally functional , clean, and crisp, focused on efficiency and consistency.
Frame & details
The unique character of this model stems from its natural lines: a light-colored bamboo saya paired with a brown sageo . The tsuka (handle) is made of hardwood, covered with same (ray skin) visible beneath the braiding, and a brown ito for a firm grip. The assembly is completed by metal fittings (tsuba, fuchi, kashira, menuki, habaki) with a simple finish, consistent with the “Vent du Bambou” identity.
Uses & Benefits
Designed for those who want a realistic katana, this model is suitable for dojo training and balanced for iaido, kenjutsu, and traditional cutting . In its sharpened version, it can cut bamboo . In its unsharpened version, it retains the aesthetics and presence of a real katana, offering greater composure for display and handling.
