📜 Description

Origin and spirit

Kurenai no Tsuki , meaning Scarlet Moon in Japanese , symbolizes passion, blood shed in battle, and the fragile beauty of Japanese nights. Inspired by the aesthetics of Edo-period samurai katanas, this sword pays homage to the warriors who wielded their blades with honor and discipline, ready to defend their clan under the moonlight.

Manufacturing

The blade is forged from 880 layers of folded Damascus steel , revealing sumptuous patterns ( hada ) characteristic of fine craftsmanship. A fuller ( bohi ) runs along the nagasa, lightening the blade and producing a clear sound when cutting. The hardness is approximately 35 HRC , suitable for training and for cutting rice straw and bamboo. Each blade is polished to highlight the wavy hamon , a visual signature of Japanese swords.

Frame & details

The koshirae combines simplicity and nobility:

  • Saya in deep red lacquered wood , enhanced with a braided black sageo.

  • Tsuka made of hardwood , covered with genuine stingray skin ( samegawa ) and a black cotton/polyester braid ( ito ).

  • Zinc alloy fittings: black openwork tsuba with traditional design, gold habaki and inlaid menuki.
