Understated elegance, silent power. The “Hatamoto” Katana pays homage to the elite warriors who protected the Shōgun. Mounted in Shirasaya style , its refined design in precious wood conceals a formidable blade of 1095 clay-tempered steel .
An exceptional piece, forged for actual cutting as well as for contemplation, combining Japanese tradition and timeless prestige.

📜The soul of the Hatamoto Katana

Origin & Spirit

In feudal Japan, the Hatamoto (旗本) were the direct vassals of the Shōgun, guardians of his authority and defenders of his life. This katana bears their name to symbolize loyalty, power, and high rank .
Its Shirasaya mount (simple mount in bare wood) recalls the tradition of the samurai who kept their blades in rest saya, preserving the steel and the soul of the weapon until the moment of combat.

Forge & Blade

The blade is forged from 1095 steel and then clay-quenched using traditional techniques. This process creates an authentic hamon , visible and unique to each piece. Hand polishing reveals the steel's brilliance and highlights the hardening line.
Sharp as a razor, the blade is capable of cutting bamboo smoothly, reminiscent of the tameshigiri exercises of the samurai.

Frame & Details

  • Saya (scabbard) made of polished precious wood, adorned with solid brass fittings.

  • Tsuka (handle) in continuity with the saya, also in natural wood, reinforced by two bamboo mekugi.

  • Habaki, fuchi and kashira in brass, simple and robust.
A minimalist design, but of rare nobility, which highlights the blade rather than the ornament.

Uses & Benefits

  • Martial practice : ideal for cutting tatami omote, bamboo or iaidō training.

  • Collection & decoration : a refined piece, a symbol of prestige and Japanese tradition.

  • Exclusive : each katana is made to order, delivered with certificate and accessories.
